Flat-coated retriever (confirmed introduction)
The flat-coated retriever is a multi-functional purpose The hunting dog originated in the 19th century. Bred from two American breeds, Labrador and Newfoundland (definitely introduced), they can be described in one sentence as "powerful but not stupid, gorgeous but not delicate". It is an extremely intelligent and brilliant dog breed. Retrievers have been used as assistants to fishermen in Europe and America for hundreds of years. The Flat-Coated Retriever is derived from a special type of retriever, which consists of Newfoundland dogs, setters, shepherd dogs, snipe dogs and others. A cross between a water dog and a water dog. The final goal of the crossbreeding was to create a breed that could easily find, locate, swim and retrieve waterfowl. In the mid-19th century, this hybridization began to produce the curly-coated retriever, the precursor of the flat-coated retriever.
Some breeders believed that curly hair was not good at waterproofing, so they began to breed flat-haired dogs, thus the current flat-haired retriever appeared.
